Points at Stake
June 8th by Tim

Consistency seems to be a challege for me these days. Yesterday I tried to make an entry in this blog, but the darn thing wouldn’t load. Just goes to show you that even when one is on top of things, one cannot always expect said things to go smoothly.

Today, blogger.com has been very slow to load. In fact it’s taken more than 30 minutes to get to this page. With that in mind, time constraints force me to leave you with this unoriginal thought:

“I was alone, cold and damp
I tried to fly but both my wings were cramped
Til you came along and lit the lamp
To guide me to my exit ramp.”

Ten points in a game to be named later to anyone who can tell me from where this quote originates.

Expect the Unexpected
April 28th by Tim

Yesterday was not what I expected. I thought I was going to spend the evening finishing up some paperwork. Instead I cavorted around Pittsburgh with a British journalist who is traveling through the states, with no particular schedule. His purpose is to meet interesting people and then to write about them in a regular column for the UK Metro.

I met him when he happened into Hot D***a seeking free wireless internet. He needed some help with his computer, one thing led to another, and he wound up spending the evening with my friends and I as well as staying over at my apartment. He’s at the very beginning of his three month odyssey, and his columns will begin appearing in his paper sometime next week. I think it might be best if I wait for him to give you a synopsis of our evening, rather than writing about it myself right now. I’ll post the link in this very space as soon as it exists!

And because of this week’s omission, expect a double-dose of the Senile Journey next week, as the exciting adventure draws to a close.

News Flash
January 12th by Tim

Porcupines can shoot their quills. Until someone can prove to me otherwise, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Tonight Mark Messier will have his number retired by the New York Rangers, and it just so happens that this week Comcast cable subscribers have a free preview of “NHL Center Ice.” Until I learned this two days ago, I was seriously pondering driving to Canada immediately after work today. The game doesn’t seem to be listed as televised there, but it has to be, right? I mean it is the true north strong and free. After all, they know what they’re doing up there when it comes to ice.

I’ll bet you didn’t know that this website is the recipient of a Canadian Web Award. That’s because it’s “Canadian friendly, unique, informative, and the Canadian consumer benefits from visiting it.” No joke. I once had a pair of customers from Nova Scotia. Me and the Canadians, we’ve got rapport.

California French
January 10th by Tim

Today a customer ordered a frankfurter salad with “California French Style” dressing. In fact, as I was running through her salad dressing options, she became fixated on the California French alternative. This was because we had neither a California style nor a French style hot dog on our menu. She makes a good point.

I had never given our “California French Style” salad dressing much thought before. Now I’m wondering, how can a salad dressing be both Californian and French at the same time? It doesn’t make any sense. That’s okay, because after all, what’s important is that we all now realize that “California French Style” dressing works well with a frankfurter salad.

In other news, I’m pleased to see that at least one computer dating service is now reading this blog (see comment on January 6). To think, lucyammons15571836 wants to meet me tonight! Maybe I’ll bring some floppy disks to insert in her drive. That would really boot ‘er up, eh?

In serious news, my friend Karis is having an intestinal transplant. It might very well be happening right now. Please pray for her. http://aup.org/karis/latest_update.htm
