Justin cooks up a CSA share at Franktuary

Every Wednesday, a dozen cardboard boxes full of fresh food are wheeled into Franktuary from the Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance delivery truck.  We make space for them beneath the front window and neighbors trickle in throughout the day to pick up their CSA – Community Supported Agriculture – share.  CSAs are a great way to support local farmers.  The purchaser’s subscription provides financial stability to farmers, who are then free to put whatever is ripe in the box each week.  Shares usually start with vegetables and herbs of all shapes and sizes, and many subscribers choose to add cheese, eggs, and meat, all from local small-scale providers.

Penn’s Corner has been working with area chefs to provide recipes for CSA subscribers, and Justin met up with them last week to roast some vegetables and make sweet corn ice cream with blueberry sauce.

Check out their post here for some mouthwatering recipes, and stop by Franktuary where we’re featuring a variety of Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance products on our regular menu!
